Diatom Nutri Pet by The Clay Cure Company is a high quality, food grade Diatomaceaous Earth from a pure freshwater source. It is suitable for both internal and external use and is a 100% natural way to control external and internal parasites for your pet.

Diatomaceous Earth is a safe substance made up from crushed fossils of freshwater organisms. Diatom Nutri Pet is 89 - 95 % amorphous silica; so as well as being very high in silica percentage it also contains 15 essential trace minerals including phosphorous, selenium, calcium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, copper, zinc and iron. Silica alone is in fact crucial to bones, tendons, skin, cartilage and blood vessels. Silica exists in the blood stream and important organs such as the liver, heart, and lungs. Mixed with your animals normal feed it improves metabolism and digestions and over time, when used on a daily basis it promotes shinier coats, improved health, well-being, and vitality.

Some of the reported potential benefits of daily consumption of Diatomaceous Earth include:
• Colon cleanser, digestive aid, has been shown to help with bowel problems
• Better feed conversion, improves weight gain and general health
• Promotes shinier coats, hair, skin, manes, hooves, nails and plumage
• Promotes an environment that insects don't like.
• Cost effective health supplement resulting in reduced animal stress, better well-being and potentially reduced vet bills.

Diatomaceous Earth can also be used in the control of external parasites and fleas, which can be achived by dusting your pet with Diamtom Nutri Pet along with their bedding and surrounding areas. The good thing, though, is that fleas really don't like Diatomaceous Earth. As with other insects and arachnids,

Diatomaceous Earth is a natural insecticide that is safe to use around your pets and family members.

Why You Should Think Twice Before Using Chemical Insecticides Around Your House, in Your Garden, or on Your Pet

Today’s insecticides contain some pretty hazardous chemicals, even suspected carcinogens. And when you or a hired professional use them liberally around your home and even on your pet, you put everyone in your household at risk!.

Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a fine, white powder that’s mined from the very tiny fossilised shells of microscopic water-dwelling organisms known as diatoms.

Under a microscope, the fine white powder has very sharp edges, which makes it unwelcoming to pests, but not you or your pet.

Because food-grade DE isn’t considered a harsh chemical and contains only a trace of crystalline silica, you can use it both inside and outside your home without fear of harming your family and pets.

While this formula works well with pets for pests, it is not a pesticide.

It is suggested applying it sparingly and thoroughly brush it into your pet’s coat, avoiding contact with his eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Sprinkle the powder onto your pet avoiding her head and eyes, from her collar to the base of her tail
  • Apply down all four limbs to her paws
  • Be sure to brush your pet’s fur in the opposite direction so the powder contacts her skin

Don’t forget to apply The Clay Cure's Diatom Nutri Pet to your pet’s bed as well as areas where she likes to visit, such as her favourite pieces of furniture or rugs.

After vacuuming, sprinkle on bedding, carpets and floors.

First, a little warning about using Diatomaceous Earth indoors...This is a very fine white powder, almost like the consistency of talcum powder.

For anyone with asthma or a lung ailment, this could cause irritation when used in an enclosed environment . Please wear a dust mask if spreading to avoid inhalation.

Finally, too much can damage a vacuum cleaner, so remember to go easy!

Also depending on how much you use each time, it can (like any other light-coloured powder) change the appearance of some surfaces, such as dark-coloured carpet or upholstery material. Foot traffic through the area may track it.

It is suggested sprinkling it lightly in corners of your home, along baseboards, in cracks and crevices, such as between appliances. Avoid inhaling its dust..

While it's more common to use Diatomaceous Earth as a flea prevention, many people have added small amounts of Diatomaceous Earth to their pet's diet. There are numerous benefits a pet can receive from a consistent dosage of Diatomaceous Earth. Pet owners who have given their pets  Diatomaceous Earth have found their pet has an improved coat, appetite, metabolism, and digestion.

Feeding Diatomaceous Earth to your cat

The type of food you are giving your cat will also affect the way to give it to them.

Wet Food: Remove the food from the can and add it to the dish. Then add the appropriate dose of Diatomaceous Earth and mix in.
Dry Food: Cats may be sceptical of their dry cat food if it has a white powder on it, that's why we  suggest this method for adding Diatomaceous Earth to your cat's food.

Step 1: Take note of the number of servings in the bag of cat food.
Step 2: Multiply the appropriate  Diatomaceous Earth dosage by the number of servings. Add that amount of DE to the bag of cat food and shake the bag to distribute it evenly. The Diamaceous Earth will absorb the scent of the cat food and be almost indistinguishable from it allowing your cat to enjoy their food.

Alternatively you can try this approach:

Step 1: Mix the dosage of Diatomaceous Earth with a quarter cup of water.
Step 2: Pour the mixture over your cat's dry food coating most of it.

Be sure not to get the product in the animal's eyes or ears. Re-apply if the animal gets wet or when the powder is no longer present.

Feeding Diatomaceous Earth to your Dog

Wet Food: Remove the food from the can and add it to the dish. Then add the appropriate dose of Diatomaceous Earth and mix in.
Dry Food: There are 2 methods for adding Diatomaceous Earth to your dog's food.

Method 1: This method also helps deter insects that may be infesting your pet's food supply (ants, weevils, beetles, flies).
Step 1: Take note of the number of servings in the bag of dog food.
Step 2: Multiply the appropriate Diatomaceous Earth dosage by the number of servings. Add that amount of Diatomaceous Earth to the bag of dog food and shake the bag to distribute it evenly. The Diatomaceous Earth will absorb the scent of the dog food and be almost indistinguishable from it allowing your dog to enjoy their food.

Method 2:

Step 1: Mix the amount of Diatomaceous Earth with a quarter cup of water.
Step 2: Pour the mixture over your dog's dry food coating most of it.
As you feed your dog Diatomaceous Earth you can rest easy knowing that you are helping promote their health and happiness.

Be sure not to get the product in the animal's eyes or ears. Re-apply if the animal gets wet or when the powder is no longer present.

It is recommended you hold off on adding Diatomaceous Earth to their diet until they move to solid food.

100% Diamaceous Earth (amorphous non crystalline silica).
