Edgard & Cooper is a Belgium dog brand which entered the UK market in 2016.
What makes their kibble different is that it is made with only fresh meat and no meat meal, dried meat or processed meat. The meat is sourced as locally as possible which means fewer food miles and a lower carbon footprint and is never processed, rendered or frozen. Then they add healthy, nutritious ingredients like vegetables, fruit, botanicals and herbs - yum! So only 100% natural ingredients.
To preserve all the goodness of these lovely and healthy ingredients the kibble is baked slowly on a low temperature and in small batches.
Edgard & Cooper are also picky, especially when selecting farmers to collaborate with. Every batch of dog food produced is tested and they can trace everything in it, all the way back to its origin.
Their foods are manufactured in Spain and Germany as there are no UK manufacturing facilities that can handle and process the fresh meat to convert it into kibble.
How do other Companies make their kibble by way of comparison? Instead of fresh meat, they use highly concentrated meat meals to make their kibble which is produced by heating offal on a high temperature., then all the oils and fats are removed and the water from the meat evaporated, until only a powder remains. During this process, a lot of the nutritional value of the ingredients is lost. Then they will add oils and fats again, along with flavours and some ‘fillers’ which are cheap, unbeneficial ingredients used to bulk up your dog’s kibble. The kibble is then baked quickly on a high temperature and in large amounts.
Packaging: All their packaging is made from 100% biodegradable materials, printed with 100% water-based inks (no chemicals) making them fully compostable and 100% recyclable which reduces the overall impact from the environment.
Edgard & Cooper are also considered to be a top ethical company by the Good Shopping Guide with a score of 86%.
