PetBiome
PetBiome was the first companion animal dedicated laboratory service in the UK, established in 2018, using the latest MiSeq NGS technology to produce a detailed report of the internal microbial community and how the microbes link to health and disease in the dog and cat.
PetBiome is made up of a team of highly qualified biochemists, microbiologists, and geneticists, who have been working together in the field since 2014. The Microbiome Test Kit
Find out what’s going on inside your pets gut - PetBiome recommend that you get your pet tested first so that they can give the best advise so that your pet can get back to health! Take their gut Microbiome Test for pets with gastric symptoms, itchiness, food sensitivities, allergies and bad breath.
The report will show:
The PetBiome Report interprets DNA sequencing data from your pet’s microbiome sample. It identifies the different microbes in the gut, including beneficial bacteria, those that don’t contribute much, and potentially harmful ones and explains what each group does.
The results give you insights into how your pet’s gut microbes may be affecting important aspects of health:
- Digestive health: Helps explain symptoms like diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, or food sensitivities.
- Immune system: Shows whether the microbiome supports immune function or may be linked to infection or inflammation.

Their range of supplements have been designed to correct specific imbalances, following a test. AMR, Biotic Boost and Anti-microbic should only be used after doing the microbiome test, as without data it is guesswork. Maintenance and Prebiotic can be used for on-going gut support and can be used for those customers who have not done the test.
The microbiome report is the starting point, but the dog’s response is ultimately the most important guide, which will determine what support is needed longer term. PetBiome always balance what the data suggests with what they see clinically in the dog
