What is the difference between biodegradable and compostable bags? Degradable bags are commonly mistaken for biodegradable bags. A degradable bag is a petroleum-based plastic bag that can take up to 1000 years to breakdown, all the while building up within the food chain having potentially devastating effects on the animals that consume them. Biodegradable bags are basically degradable bags with an EPI additive to speed up the breakdown process. It is not clear how long biodegradable bags with this additive take to breakdown and the science behind it is not widely supported. Aidos Plastic’s bags are 100% biodegradable and compostable – meaning that they will safely breakdown back into the Earth within 90 days.

Ben the founder of Adios Plastic had the idea for Adios Plastic originally in 2017 after he became aware of the devastating effects that plastic was having on the environment. Ben wanted to do something to help, but wasn’t sure what. He made changes in his life right away to reduce his single use plastic consumption. But he wanted to do more, a lot more and since he loves animals, he thought that producing something plastic free for pets would be great!
After months of research, Ben learnt that almost all dog poo bags on the market are not as eco friendly as they claim. Companies were, and still are green washing customers using clever marketing techniques.
Adios Plastic is here to offer consumers plastic free alternatives to everyday products. Our love of animals means that compostable poo bags is our launch product, but don’t worry we will have many more products to come!
Adios Plastic compostable bags are made 100% from plants, 40% Corn-starch, 50% PBAT (a biodegradable random copolymer) and 9.99% edible plant glycerine. All of which are completely plant-based materials and certified to EN13432 standards to be 100% compostable.

We always aim to dipatch orders as quickly as possible. Orders received before 3.30pm (1.30pm cut off for Courier deliveries) will be dispatched the same day. An overview of our shipping options with typical delivery timescales are detailed below. Please be mindful that during peak times delays may occur. We also cannot accept responsibility for late deliveries due to unforseen circumstances outside of our control.

- We do not work at weekends, so orders received after the cut off times on Friday will not be dispatched until Monday (There will be special arrangements for Public Holidays when orders will be dispatched on the next working day).

- Once we have received an order it will not be possible to cancel your order, however please contact us and we will see what we can do.
- If in the unusual situation there is a problem with your order, such as a stock error or an issue with delivery, we will make contact with you to discuss options.

An Overview of Returns and Refunds
Unless faulty, you can only return a product if unopened, unused and with the original seals, packaging or tags intact. Unfortunately, it is also not possible to issue a refund for a supplement that your pet doesn't like or doesnt agree with them. All animals are unique with their own likes and dislikes.
You can return an unwanted item for a full refund (including minimum postage costs you could have chosen when placing your order) within 14 days of receiving it. You must notify us of your intention to cancel the order and you must return the item to us within 14 days of notifying us.
When returning an item, please ensure you take reasonable care as any damage in transit will result in us being unable to refund part or all of the money that you have paid. You are responsible for the cost of returning an unwanted item to us. Using Royal Mail “Send and Item with Click & Drop” is an option, as this enables you to have your order collected from your house. Further details can be found here: https://send.royalmail.com/

Refunds are typically processed within 2 days of receipt of a returned item, but under certain circumstances, such as busy /holiday periods, your refund may take longer to process. The 14- day limit to request a refund does not apply to any item which is faulty, unfit for purpose, or not as described at the time you placed the order. For damaged and faulty items, you have 30 days to contact us. We will cover the cost of these returns and once received will process a full refund.
What are Adios Poop Bags made of?
Cornstarch & PBAT.
Adios Plastic bags are made 100% from plants, 40% Corn-starch, 50% PBAT (a biodegradable random copolymer) and 9.99% edible plant glycerine. All of which are completely plant-based materials and certified to EN13432 standards to be 100% compostable.
PBAT is important because it's a biodegradable alternative to conventional plastics.
The cornstarch used in these bags is a byproduct of the food industry.
How Long do Adios Poop Bags take to break down?
3-6 months in the right conditions (Warm, moist and aerated). No harmful chemicals are released into the environment during this process.
Where are the Poop Bags Made?
Like almost all dog poo bags, they are made in China since this is where the raw materials and factories are located. Adios only ever use sea freight to ship goods into the UK, never by air.

"Without handles" - on a roll - a very popular option, size 13 x 9 inches.
"With handles" - on a roll" - A popular choice for smaller dogs. Size 12 x 7 inches
Are Adios Poop Bags Biodegradeable?
Absolutely! These bags are certified compostable to all European standards and biodegradable.
But I Don't Compost - Are These Bags Still Beneficial?
Even when you do not compost at home (which Adios know many people don’t) there are still many benefits to using our poo bags.
Most dog poo bags end up being incinerated (burned). Burning conventional plastic bags can be extremely toxic and release dioxins. Burning compostable bags like these is a lot safer and any CO2 that is released in the process is offset by the CO2 removed from the air when the bags were plants.
How Strong are the Bags?
Poo bags can be measured by thickness in microns. Most poo bags are around 15 microns, with more premium ones being around 18 microns. Adios made their bags the thickest they can be, 20 microns! Which makes them stronger than most plastic poo bags.
