How does Green Lipped Mussel Powder work?
New Zealand Green Lipped Mussels contain glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) as well as high levels of unsaturated fatty acids. Animals are often not capable of producing the required quantities of GAGs on their own, and so the supplementation of GAGs provides long-term benefits to support joints and tendons.
Green Lipped Mussels also contain a fatty acid called ETA, which decreases the production of cyclooxygenase, an enzyme causing inflammation. This results in less pain, less inflammation, and improved mobility for your pet.
The mussels are also a rich source of glucosamine and chondroitin, vitamins C and E, antioxidants, and minerals such as copper, zinc, and selenium, all of which are vital to your pet’s joint health.
Aniforte's Green Lipped Mussels come from a licensed marine farm in New Zealand. There, the mussels are processed as a whole by gentle freeze-drying. This process ensures that the original nutrients are almost completely preserved. We are not extracting any powder obtained, so that our product retains a higher fat content of 8%. A high fat content is considered a quality feature, as it also ensures high content of essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which is what makes our Green Lipped Mussel powder so effective. Dogs per 10 kg: 0.5 g daily
Cats: 0.5 g daily
If needed, the recommended amount can be increased to double. To acclimatise, start with 50% of the daily dose for 3 - 5 days. The powder can be easily mixed with the food.
Aniforte green-lipped product is suitable for both dogs and cats in all variations. However, due to the feeding quantity, we recommend purchasing smaller package sizes of green-lipped mussel powder for cats and smaller dogs.
Note: Some clumping of the powder may occur. This does not affect the quality of the product—simply break up any clumps with a fork before use

An Overview of Returns and Refunds
Unless faulty, you can only return a product if unopened, unused and with the original seals, packaging or tags intact. Unfortunately, it is also not possible to issue a refund for a supplement that your pet doesn't like or doesnt agree with them. All animals are unique with their own likes and dislikes.
You can return an unwanted item for a full refund (including minimum postage costs you could have chosen when placing your order) within 14 days of receiving it. You must notify us of your intention to cancel the order and you must return the item to us within 14 days of notifying us.
When returning an item, please ensure you take reasonable care as any damage in transit will result in us being unable to refund part or all of the money that you have paid. You are responsible for the cost of returning an unwanted item to us. Refunds are typically processed within 2 days of receipt of a returned item, but under certain circumstances, such as busy /holiday periods, your refund may take longer to process. The 14- day limit to request a refund does not apply to any item which is faulty, unfit for purpose, or not as described at the time you placed the order. For damaged and faulty items, you have 30 days to contact us. We will cover the cost of these returns and once received will process a full refund.
How long can I continue to administer green-lipped mussel powder?
Continuous administration is advisable as the nutrients are constantly required. Alternatively, the powder can be administered 1 to 3 times a year for 8 to 10 weeks at a time.
Is it possible to overdose on green-lipped mussel?
If dosed correctly, as recommended by us, an overdose of green-lipped mussel powder is unlikely. To avoid an accidental overdose, read our feeding recommendations.
When should I give my dog green-lipped mussel powder?
The powder can be given preventatively to promote joint health or on veterinary recommendation for joint complaints to improve mobility.
Can I combine green-lipped mussel powder with other feed supplements?
In principle, you can give green-lipped mussel powder together with other food supplements. However, we recommend that you speak to your vet beforehand if you are unsure whether interactions with other medications could occur. In this way, you can rule out the possibility of problems resulting from joint administration.
Is green-lipped mussel powder suitable for all dogs and cats?
Yes, green-lipped mussel powder is generally suitable for dogs and cats of all breeds and ages. In puppies or pregnant animals, it should only be administered after consultation with a vet or veterinary practitioner. It is also advisable to seek prior veterinary advice for older or sick animals with specific health problems.
When does the green-lipped mussel powder start to work?
The onset of effect varies from pet to pet. Some pet owners report improvements after just a few days of regular administration. For other animals, it can take a few weeks before the effect becomes noticeable.
Can green-lipped mussel powder have side effects?
Normally, green-lipped mussel powder and the ingredients it contains are well tolerated by four-legged friends. Only in very rare cases do slight digestive problems occur.
