The kit is simple to use and comes with full instructions. Should you suspect that your dog or cat has giardia (especially if they are very young or old) then this home test kit allows you to test quickly.

Please be careful not to overfill the test tube. 

Please note that if the test tube is overfilled with too much stool sample, this will invalidate the test.

An invalid test is where it will either show just a line against the letter T, or no lines at all.  In this instance the kit will not be replaced.

Further information on the Giardia LAB test kit

This is a great option for those who do not feel confident in carrying out the Giardia home test themselves.

A kit will be sent for you to collect your sample, which will then be returned to the lab for testing. Your kit will include a prepaid returns envelope, information leaflet and a quick prep collection tube. Results will be emailed with 48 hours of your sample being received by the lab and for a positive result a text will also be sent so that you do not miss your results.

Common Signs that Giardia is present:

  • Giardia infection in dogs / cats may lead to weight loss
  • Chronic intermittent diarrhoea
  • Fatty stool
  • The stool may range from soft to watery
  • Infected dogs /cats tend to have excess mucus in the faeces
  • Vomiting may occur in some cases

It is important to note that not every Dog / Cat will show all the clinical signs of Giardia.

Why should I purchase a separate Giardia Kit if I'm already purchasing the Worm Count kit?

Giardia is a protozoan (not a worm) and can cause illness in dogs. In younger and older dogs, or dogs with a weakened immune system, this can make them quite poorly.
Under our Intestinal worm count kit, our laboratory Feclab, do screen for Giardia. However, it is worth noting though that this is reliant on the cyst being present within the sample provided (the cyst shed intermittently). 
If your pet is showing symptoms relating to Giardia or if you would like to specifically screen for Giardia as part of your routine screening (some dogs show no symptoms) then Feclab would recommend giardia antigen testing as this measures antigen levels. 

This product is temperature sensitive - Please note that if temperatures fall consistently below freezing, there may be a delay in shipment of this product, until it is viable to send.

Please note:
A Fecal egg count is a snap shot of a specific moment in time. The test detects eggs of mature parasites that live inside the body and pass their eggs to the outside by shedding them into the dogs stool’s. It is possible that at the time of testing the parasites are too young to produce eggs, if no eggs are being shed the infection cannot be detected. There is also a possibility the eggs are In such small numbers at the time of testing they would be undetectable Thus showing a negative result.

The above is extremely rare but we would like to point out the possibilities.

Standard UK Delivery (orders under 4kg)

Options of Royal Mail Tracked 48 (typically 2-3 working days) and Tracked 24 (typically 1-2 working days). Free Delivery on orders over £48.99. Orders over 4kg will need to be sent with APC. £3.45-4.29

Next Day Delivery - APC 

Excludes Highlands, Islands and Northern Ireland). For further details of the postcodes in these areas can be found HERE.

Next day Courier service (standard deliveries Monday to Saturday inclusive) with APC.  You will receive a text on morning of your delivery with a 2 hour delivery window (plus ability to track driver location).

Orders over £48.99 (weighing less than 4kg) are sent on a Royal Mail Tracked 48 service. There is however the option to upgrade your shipping at checkout as follows:

  • Upgrade to Royal Mail Tracked 24 - an extra £1
  • Upgrade to APC Next Day - an extra £3.99 (exclusions apply - see HERE for details)

Orders over £200 will be shipped on a priority service and detailed at checkout. 

Orders weighing more than 4kg will need to be sent via APC at an increased cost.

  • We do not work at weekends, so orders received after the cut off times on Friday will not be dispatched until Monday (There will be special arrangements for Public Holidays when orders will be dispatched on the next working day).
  • Please double check your delivery address in your order confirmation email and contact us straight away if this needs to be changed. 
  • Once we have received an order it will not be possible to cancel your order, however please contact us and we will see what we can do. 
  • If in the unusual situation there is a problem with your order, such as a stock error or an issue with delivery, we will make contact with you to discuss options.

An Overview of Returns and Refunds

Unless faulty, you can only return a product if unopened, unused and with the original seals, packaging or tags intact. Unfortunately, it is also not possible to issue a refund for a supplement that your pet doesn't like or doesnt agree with them. All animals are unique with their own likes and dislikes. 

You can return an unwanted item for a full refund (including minimum postage costs you could have chosen when placing your order) within 14 days of receiving it. You must notify us of your intention to cancel the order and you must return the item to us within 14 days of notifying us.

When returning an item, please ensure you take reasonable care as any damage in transit will result in us being unable to refund part or all of the money that you have paid.  You are responsible for the cost of returning an unwanted item to us. Refunds are typically processed within 2 days of receipt of a returned item, but under certain circumstances, such as busy /holiday periods, your refund may take longer to process.  The 14- day limit to request a refund does not apply to any item which is faulty, unfit for purpose, or not as described at the time you placed the order. For damaged and faulty items, you have 30 days to contact us. We will cover the cost of these returns and once received will process a full refund.
